DOORS – Part 1 The Look

This is the start for an activity related to doors. Why doors? Because they are easy to find (no need to make long trips to find them) and rich in concrete and abstract meanings.

ACTIVITY: Examine a door around you (it can be your home’s, your classroom’s, even your wardrobe’s door) paying attention to the following:

MATERIAL  –  check if appropriate to your door:

Wood Describe or draw here what’s the door made of (cold or hot when touching it?). Sometimes doors are just screens made of textile (indoors), or stripes of plastic decorated with beads (in warm areas).                      
Metal
Plastic
Glass
Textile
Beads
Mix of materials (wood+glass, wood+ plastic, plastic+beads …)
